Job summary

McLaren Health Care is seeking a Histotechnologist to cut, stain, and mount tissue specimens for diagnostic purposes in a full-time position based in Mount Clemens, MI. The role requires preparing slides and operating histology equipment, with emphasis on quality control and adherence to accreditation standards.

Qualified candidates will have a biology/chemistry/medical technology background (HTL program acceptable) and certification within 18 months of hire.

Qualifications

Certification as Histotechnologist to be achieved within 18 months of hire.
Bachelor-level degree or HTL program completion as required qualifications.

Responsibilities

Prepares and stains specimens of human tissue according to established procedures.
Prepares solutions and performs mountings and stains; handles related service duties.
Processes multiple tissue types using embedding, microtomy, frozen section, IHC and special stains.
Operates, calibrates, and maintains equipment for tissue processing and labeling; ensures slide quality.
Applies histopathological knowledge and tissue morphology to identify lesions and determine bedding and staining relations.
Maintains laboratory supplies inventory and expediting orders as needed.
Ensures infection-control and safety policies are followed; contributes to a safe work environment.
Performs other related duties as required and directed.
