Qualifications

• Associates degree including coursework in chemistry and biology.
• Histotechnician certification or certified within 18 months of hire or transfer.

Responsabilités

• Prepares specimens for gross description and assists at the grossing bench.
• Embeds specimens accurately and cuts slides representing the block; stains with routine H&E.
• Labels and distributes slides; performs QC on equipment and documents problems.
• Operates, calibrates and maintains tissue processing and labeling equipment; verifies slide quality.
• Maintains stain setup; follows QC chart and notifies pathologist of discrepancies.
• Maintains infection-control practices and a safe working environment.
