Job summary

McLaren Health Care is seeking a qualified histotechnician to prepare tissue samples for pathologists, perform routine histology and tissue processing, and maintain accurate documentation and QC across the laboratory. The role includes embedding, sectioning, staining, labeling slides and preserving specimen integrity.

The position requires an Associate degree with chemistry/biology coursework or completion of an accredited HT program, plus HT certification within 18 months of hire.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of histology techniques and quality control procedures.
• Ability to assist in gross pathology and tissue processing as described in the job posting.

Responsibilities

• Prepares tissue and other biological samples for examination by pathologists.
• Performs routine histology embedding, sectioning, and staining.
• Labels and distributes slides, maintains equipment and records.
• Operates and maintains tissue processing equipment; documents QC.
• Prepares Pap, Gynecologic and non-Gyn specimens and matches patient info to requisitions.
• Maintains stain setup and QC charts; communicates discrepancies to pathologist.
• Maintains safe, clean work environment and adheres to infection control policies.
• Keeps current professional knowledge through workshops and literature.
