Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Histotechnician for our St. Thomas Midtown Hospital site in Nashville, TN.

The role supports surgical pathology through processing tissue specimens, slide preparation, staining, and immunohistochemistry on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissues. The position reports on a 3rd shift or 4x10 schedule, with responsibilities including accurate results reporting, instrument operation, and adherence to quality control policies.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.
• 2+ years of experience as a Histotechnician.
• ASCP histotechnician certification preferred.
• 2+ years of Immunohistochemistry experience preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in a high-volume hospital laboratory environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process human tissue and body fluid specimens for microscopic examination.
• Prepare and stain histology slides using standard procedures.
• Perform immunohistochemical tests on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissues.
• Operate and maintain histology instruments and perform routine maintenance.
• Document results, quality control data and equipment logs accurately.
