Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Clinical Lab Technologist generalist to join our team at Ascension St. Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville, TN.

This role operates on a 3rd shift and involves routine to complex testing, instrument troubleshooting, and maintaining quality control to ensure accurate patient results. The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree in a chemical or biological science and have MLS experience or certification such as ASCP/AMT.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology is required.
• 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience OR an MLS degree is required.
• ASCP or AMT certification is preferred.
• 1 year or more of MLS generalist experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures according to SOPs.
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
• Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care.
• Perform preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear PPE.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology

ASCP or AMT certification

1 year or more of MLS generalist experience
