Job summary

The Penn Vet Diagnostic Laboratory (PVDL) and the Comparative Pathology Core (CPC) seek an experienced histology technician to provide technical histology support at the Philadelphia campus. Responsibilities include trimming, embedding, sectioning, staining, instrument maintenance, and filing.

Collaboration with faculty pathologists, researchers, staff and resident trainees is expected. The ideal candidate will have an Associate of Science and 3–5 years of related experience, knowledge of tissue

Qualifications

• Associate of Science in Histology or equivalent.
• 3–5 years of experience in histology.
• Experience with tissue preparation and processing.

Responsibilities

• Tissue trimming and embedding.
• Sectioning and microtoming of processed and frozen tissues.
• Histochemical staining and immunohistochemical staining.
• Instrument maintenance (tissue processor, autostainer, cover-slipper).
• Distribution and filing of cases, slides, and blocks.
• Support quality control/quality assessment protocols.
