Qualifications

• Associate's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science.
• Or 1 year in processing/embedding/microtomy in Histopathology, or 2 years in a clinical data/specimen handling role.

Responsibilities

• Maintains knowledge of anatomy, pathology and medical terminology.
• Identifies, prepares, and processes tissue specimens per SOPs.
• Operates tissue processors, microtomy, stainers, and digital slide scanners.
• Supports embedding, microtomy, and limited IHC duties as needed.
• Prioritizes work to respond to workload/STAT requests.
• Performs routine instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Engages in quality control and continuous improvement activities.
• Provides orientation and training for new staff/students.
• Participates in service recovery and ongoing education.
• Covers on-call demands if required.
• Performs barcoding functions.
