Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Histology Technician in Everett, WA to prepare and analyze tissue samples for histopathologic evaluation, including embedding, microtomy, routine H&E staining, and slide QC.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED (BS in Biology preferred), 1–4 years in histology, and proficiency with MS Office; experience with paraffin processing and data records is a plus. This is a 100% onsite role with shift options and a strong benefits package.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; BS in Biology preferred.
• 1–4 years of related experience in histology or pathology.
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Experience in paraffin tissue work and tissue processing.
• Strong microtomy skills and knowledge of staining procedures.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and process quality tissue samples for histopathologic evaluation.
• Identify tissue samples for proper embedding orientation and perform paraffin embedding procedures.
• Utilize microtomy skills to prepare routine microscopic slides according to standard operating procedures.
• Perform routine hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining and cover slipping of microscopic slides.
• Prepare reagents and perform non-routine histochemical staining procedures.
• Conduct quality control procedures on all prepared microscope slides.
• Troubleshoot equipment and operation failures to minimize interruptions.
• Analyze raw data collection and resolve deviations in standard operating procedures.
• Assist with the revision of standard operating procedures as needed.
• Contribute to innovative process development and quality improvement.
• Manage inventory, including ordering supplies and data entry to laboratory records.
• Handle hazardous chemicals and maintain accurate records of hazardous materials.
