Job summary

Actalent in Everett, WA is seeking a Histology Technician to prepare and analyze tissue samples for histopathologic evaluation, including embedding, processing, microtomy and H&E staining. You will ensure slide quality and maintain a clean lab environment.

The role is a permanent onsite position with a 6:00 am to 11:00 pm shift window and potential overtime. A High School Diploma or GED is required; a BS in Biology is preferred, with 1–4 years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required; a BS in Biology is preferred.
• 1–4 years of related experience in histology or pathology.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Experience with paraffin tissue work and tissue processing.
• Strong microtomy skills and knowledge of staining procedures.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and process quality tissue samples for histopathologic evaluation.
• Identify tissue samples for proper embedding orientation and perform paraffin embedding.
• Utilize microtomy to prepare routine slides per SOPs.
• Perform routine H&E staining and cover slipping of slides.
• Prepare reagents and perform non-routine histochemical staining.
• Conduct quality control on prepared slides.
• Troubleshoot equipment and process failures to minimize interruptions.
• Analyze data and resolve deviations in SOPs.
• Assist with revision of SOPs as needed.
• Contribute to process development and quality improvement.
• Manage inventory, including ordering supplies and data entry.
• Handle hazardous chemicals and maintain records of hazardous materials.
