Job summary

Bay Area Hospital Laboratory is seeking a Histology Technician to prepare slides and support pathologists with tissue processing, staining, and reporting. The role requires competency with LIS/HIS systems and experience with microtomy and embedding.

The ideal candidate will have ASCP certification, knowledge of CLIA-88/CAP standards, and the ability to maintain quality control in a busy lab environment. This is a full-time on-site position with steps for professional growth.

Qualifications

• Registry as Histology Technician with ASCP or equivalent.
• Must meet CLIA-88, CAP and Joint Commission standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepares histologic slides from tissue sections for microscopic examination and diagnosis by pathologist.
• Maintains reagents and solutions for tissue fixation, processing and staining.
• Receives and identifies specimens and assists pathologist in grossing.
• Performs routine stains, frozen sections, embedding and microtomy.
• Files tissue blocks and stains; uses LIS/HIS to accession specimens and generate reports.
• Maintains quality control records and department statistics.
• Monitors inventory and supplies; may assist with autopsy.
