Job summary

HCA Healthcare in Nashville, TN is seeking a Histology Technician to support patient care by processing and preparing tissue samples, performing routine stains and IHC, and ensuring accurate labeling.

You will work with a team, follow department procedures, maintain reagents, and perform preventive maintenance on equipment. Associate degree preferred, HS diploma required, and state license as applicable.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Associate degree preferred.
• Minimum one year experience in a clinical lab preferred.
• State license where required (CA, FL, GA, HI, LA, MT, NV, NY, ND, RI, WV).
• General knowledge of histology methods and correlation to disease processes.
• Ability to follow fixation and staining protocols.
• Ability to prepare specimen sections for microscopic diagnosis.
• Excellent communication, teamwork and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform histology and cytology procedures including processing, embedding, microtomy, stains, IHC and case organization.
• Assure positive sample, block and slide identification.
• Prepare and maintain reagents for routine stains and histology procedures.
• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and instrumentation per procedures and schedule.
• Adhere to policy with regards to quality control and QA for instrumentation and procedures.
