Job summary

HCA Healthcare Laboratory Services is seeking a Histology Technologist to prepare and process specimens for gross and microscopic examination under supervision by a pathologist. The role emphasizes accurate sample identification, quality control, equipment maintenance, and collaboration with pathologists and care teams.

Responsibilities include tissue processing, embedding, staining, cell block prep, and routine/ special stains, while ensuring traceability and compliance with regulatory

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with 2 years histology experience.
• Associate's Degree in Histology with 1 year histology experience.
• Bachelor's Degree or higher in Histotechnology, Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, Biology or Chemistry.
• National Certification as Histotechnologist/Histotechnician/Medical Laboratory Technician or Medical Laboratory Scientist; HT (ASCP) or HTL (ASCP).
• State license where required (CA, FL, GA, HI, LA, MT, NV, NY, ND, RI, TN, WV).

Responsibilities

• Prepare and process specimens for gross and microscopic examination.
• Assist in preparation of frozen sections for microscopic examination.
• Perform histology and cytology procedures including staining and embedding.
• Ensure positive sample, block and slide identification with proper traceability.
• Maintain solutions and reagents for stains and histology procedures.
• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Troubleshoot and address issues to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement and workflow design.
