Job summary

Mass General Brigham is seeking a per diem Histology Technician II to prepare tissue specimens for microscopic analysis. The role involves collecting, logging, and assisting with tissue processing and embedding at the Longwood Avenue location.

The candidate should have a high school diploma (or histology certificate) and 1–2 years of histology experience, with ability to perform special stains such as Oil Red O. Per diem schedule and onsite work described.

Qualifications

• Must possess fundamental knowledge of histotechnique, including fixation, decalcifications, processing, embedding, and staining.
• Able to perform oil red O and other special stains.
• Maintains and updates clinical knowledge and participates in continuing education programs.

Responsibilities

• Performs specimen collection, accessioning and logging routines.
• Assists pathologists with tissue grossing procedures.
• Processes, embeds, and sections tissues for slides.
• Performs preventive maintenance and quality-control procedures on microtomes and related instruments.
• Ensures aseptic techniques and safety in the work area.
