Job summary

The Brigham and Women's Hospital, Inc. is seeking a Per Diem Histology Technician II to prepare tissue specimens for microscopic examination.

You will treat, slice, and mount tissues, assist pathologists, and perform routine QC tasks in a mass general laboratory setting at Longwood Ave. The role requires 1–2 years in clinical histology or equivalent experience and knowledge of fixation, embedding, staining, and oil-based stains.

Qualifications

• Must have histotechnique fundamentals: fixation, decalcification, processing, embedding, stains, and frozen sections.
• Oil Red O staining experience preferred.
• 1-2 years clinical or histology experience required.

Responsibilities

• Performs specimen collection, accessioning and logging routines.
• Assists pathologists with tissue grossing procedures.
• Processes, embeds, and sections tissues for slides.
• Maintains and operates staining and processing equipment; performs QC and routine maintenance.
• Adheres to aseptic techniques and safety policies to ensure a clean work area.
