Job summary

Stony Brook University Hospital is hiring a Clinical Laboratory Technologist/Technician - Histology, responsible for tissue processing, embedding, microtomy and immunohistochemistry. The role requires NYS licensure or eligibility and experience with renal, nerve, and muscle specimens. Strong communication and QA documentation are essential.

The position is full-time, day shift in Histology. Pre-employment requirements include background checks, drug screening, and license documentation.

Qualifications

• NYS license as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or eligible including provisional/limited permit eligibility.
• HT (ASCP) or eligible.
• Experience in renal, nerve, muscle specimens and biopsy grossing.
• BS in biology/medical technology or related field preferred.
• AAS in Histotechnology or related accreditation is considered.

Responsibilities

• Paraffin and embed biopsy, routine surgical specimens, placenta, autopsy and research tissue.
• Produce 2-5 micron sections using microtomy.
• Stain, coverslip and assemble, label and distribute histology sections.
• Follow LIS protocols: Copath, Ventana Benchmark, Ultra, Symphony, Vantage and Copath.
• Complete special stains and immunohistochemistry requests; document QA.
