Responsibilities include embedding and microtomy, staining, QA, and LIS system use (Copath, Ventana Benchmark, Ultra, Symphony, Vantage). Requires NYS license or eligibility; HT (ASCP) or eligible.

Qualifications

• NY licensure or eligibility including provisional/limited permit with relevant experience.
• HT (ASCP) or eligible; experience with renal, nerve, muscle specimens and biopsy grossing preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential for this role.

Responsibilities

• Paraffin embed and process biopsy, routine surgical specimens, placenta, autopsy and research tissue.
• Perform paraffin microtomy to produce 2-5 micron sections.
• Stain, coverslip and prepare histology slides; manage LIS entries (Copath, Ventana Benchmark, Ultra, Symphony, Vantage).
• Complete routine/special requests, recuts, stains, and immunohistochemistry; document QA.
• Maintain QA documentation and instrument maintenance with temperature logs.
• Assist with grossing biopsy specimens as assigned.
