Job summary

The candidate will work in the Surgical Pathology Histology Laboratory at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Duties include tissue processing, embedding, routine and automated staining (H&E, Frozen section, IHC, IF, ISH), and microtomy.

Qualifications

• Must hold one of the following licenses: Clinical Laboratory Technologists, Clinical Laboratory Technicians or Certified Histological Technicians.
• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related health science field; or equivalent in work experience and education.

Responsibilities

• Tissue processing, embedding, routine and automated staining (H&E, Frozen sections, IHC, IF, ISH), microtomy and cover slipping (50%).
• Demonstrate independent technical judgement and resolve issues in the histology lab (10%).
• Perform special stains manual and automated; IHC stains manual and automated; perform dilutions and titration.
• Analyze and troubleshoot day-to-day histology tasks; assist in new techniques; maintain QA/QC procedures and records.
• Prepare chemical solutions and reagents.
• Other duties as assigned.
