Job summary

AtlantiCare seeks a Laboratory Assistant Histology to perform grossing functions, verify specimen labeling, and assist with FNA and staining in a hospital laboratory setting. The role supports accurate patient identification and participates in quality and teamwork initiatives.

Required education includes a high school diploma with biology degree preferred; BLS/CPR certification within 6 months and ongoing CEUs are expected, with hospital experience advantageous.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; biology degree preferred for Histology roles.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and lab information systems; 3–6 months training period.

Responsibilities

• Perform grossing room functions following SOPs.
• Verify and label specimens, containers, cassettes and slides for patient identification.
• Assist with FNA procedures and staining techniques.
• Load tissue specimens into automatic tissue processor; follow protocol.
• Provide quality customer service and support performance improvement efforts.
