AtlantiCare is seeking a Lab Assistant Histology in New Jersey to perform grossing room duties and assist with specimen collection, handling, and preparation for testing. The role requires accurate labeling, patient identification, and support for FNA and staining techniques.

Proficiency with tissue processing and LIS is expected, with on-the-job training provided. The position emphasizes teamwork, continuous improvement, and adherence to safety and quality standards in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of medical terminology required; knowledge of laboratory information system utilization must be acquired after 3 months on the job training.
• Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform grossing room functions according to SOPs.
• Assist with collection, handling and preparation of specimens for testing.
• Verify and label specimens, containers, cassettes and slides for accurate patient identification.
• Support FNA and staining techniques; load tissue in the automatic tissue processor.
