Job summary

Stony Brook Medicine is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Technologist IV to support tissue typing for organ transplant programs. You will handle preparation and testing of tissue specimens and perform HLA typing by serological and molecular methods.

You will report issues to leadership and adhere to quality and safety standards. The role requires NYS licensure or eligibility, with preferred molecular tissue typing experience and histocompatibility credentials.

Qualifications

• NYS licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or documented eligibility including provisional/limited permit eligibility with demonstrated relevant experience.
• Preferred: experience in molecular tissue typing and molecular engraftment analysis.
• Documentation of histocompatibility work experience in an ASHI/CAP accredited laboratory performing high-complexity testing under CLIA '88 Regulations as currently modified.

Responsibilities

• Has line responsibility for preparation and testing of tissue samples for histocompatibility testing procedures.
• Testing includes HLA typing by serological and molecular methods and donor-recipient crossmatch testing.
• Report problems to the lead tech, lab supervisor or lab director and follow quality/control procedures.
• Support 24/7 coverage of lab services to organ transplant programs.
• Assist in setting up equipment, updating procedures and developing departmental manuals.
