Job summary

Advocate Health in Charlotte, NC seeks a Release of Information professional to handle requests accurately while maintaining HIPAA compliance. You will process records, verify PHI, and support customers with timely access via electronic and physical formats.

Responsibilities include logging requests, scanning documents, ensuring correct health record data is released, and providing excellent service in a fast-paced environment. 40 hours weekly with a standard 1P-9:30P Sunday–Thursday shift.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 0–1 year healthcare or customer service experience preferred.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills required.
• Ability to protect PHI and maintain confidentiality (HIPAA).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic EHR systems.

Responsibilities

• Ensure privacy and confidentiality per HIPAA and state/federal regulations.
• Review and validate release of information requests for legal compliance.
• Log requests in OnBase/EPIC and scan documents into release modules.
• Identify and assemble appropriate patient information from the health record.
• Verify accuracy of scanned docs before release; report discrepancies.
• Release records in requested formats (CDs, email, patient portal).
• Provide courteous, accurate information about request status and turnaround times.
• Perform clerical tasks (phone, copying, mailing, supplies).
