Job summary

Memorial Community Health, Inc. is seeking a full-time HIM Manager and HIPAA Privacy Officer to lead the Health Information Management Department, directing transcription, release of information, coding and document imaging functions to ensure accurate management of patient records.

The role enforces HIPAA, state and federal regulations, oversees record processing at discharge, staff development, financial operations, and coordination with medical staff to maintain confidentiality and compliance.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in HIM or equivalent experience
• Previous supervisory experience preferred
• RHIA or RHIT credential by AHIMA
• Notary Public
• Knowledge of ICD coding and HIPAA regulations
• Knowledge of medical terminology

Responsibilities

• Directs day-to-day HIM department operations.
• Oversees processing of medical records at discharge.
• Types memos as needed by Medical Staff or Administration.
• Assists departments with information retrieval.
• Prepares information for Medical Staff meetings.
• Recruits and develops department staff.
• Performs employee relations to promote a positive work environment.
• Manages departmental financial operations.
• Follows HIPAA regulations and maintains confidentiality of records.
• Ensures compliance with HIPAA, Code of Conduct, Compliance Policy, Safety and Infection Control, policies, and regulatory requirements.
