Job summary

Gateways Hospital is seeking a Manager of Health Information Management to lead organization-wide HIM and privacy operations. You will oversee medical records, release of information, and privacy compliance, acting as Privacy Officer and guidance on access, consent, and disclosures.

The role requires strong leadership, policy development, and collaboration with Quality Improvement and IT to safeguard electronic PHI and ensure regulatory adherence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in health information management or related field.
• Five years in health information management with two years supervisory experience.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and California privacy rules; release of information practices.

Responsibilities

• Oversee organization-wide HIM, medical records, and privacy operations.
• Serve as Privacy Officer and ensure compliant privacy program.
• Develop and maintain HIM and privacy policies, forms, and workflows.
• Oversee release of information and respond to legal requests (subpoenas, court orders).
• Lead staff development and performance management within HIM team.
• Coordinate with Quality Improvement and IT for safeguarding electronic PHI.
