Job summary

UNITED COUNSELING SERVICE OF BENNINGTON COUNTY INC in Vermont seeks a Health Information Management Systems Support Specialist to troubleshoot end-user issues and support HIM databases across the organization.

You will serve as a key liaison between clinical, administrative, and IT functions, managing user access, assisting with audits, and supporting workflows related to training and documentation to improve data quality and reporting.

Qualifications

• Advanced Microsoft skills including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerBI.
• Experience with electronic health records (EHR).
• Strong critical thinking, problem solving, and communication abilities.
• Ability to produce well‑written documentation.

Responsibilities

• Provide help desk support and troubleshoot user issues.
• Manage staff user accounts, permissions, and RBAC per privacy requirements.
• Maintain training documentation for clinical documentation and HIM systems.
• Demonstrate knowledge of health data storage, access controls, and secure sharing.
• Understand healthcare operations and their impact on data quality.
• Understand revenue cycle and HIM's role in billing and coding.
• Assist with audits and monitoring of the EHR.
• Help maintain documentation and workflows.
• Perform data pulls and prepare internal and state reports.
• Assist with staff training on system use and data entry standards.
• Identify opportunities to improve workflows, reporting, and user experience.
• Participate in testing, upgrades, and new tool implementations.
• Provide feedback based on usage trends and system events.
