Qualifications

• Graduate from an accrediated HIM program or 5 years experience in a HIM department.
• RHIA, RHIT preferred, not required.
• 5 years experience in HIM with extensive knowledge of record processing processes.
• Ability to professionally and effectively communicate (orally and in writing).

Responsibilities

• Manage the chart check-in process to ensure charts are in the correct folder and reports are printed and filed.
• Manage outpatient record process to ensure timely receipt and processing for timely coding and billing.
• Verify ancillary outpatient records are accurately processed and filed by weekly audits.
• Certify ancillary outpatient registrations are filed on a daily basis.
• Manage the emergency room chart process to ensure timely receipt and processing for timely coding and billing.
• Perform audits and compile statistics to assure compliance with bylaws and regulatory agencies.
• Interact with medical staff and other departments to resolve incomplete record issues.
• Schedule and conduct educational training for staff involved in record completion.
• Assist management at meetings and participate in decision-making processes.
• Perform management duties such as time/attendance, incentives, interviews, orientation, and staff development.
