Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Health Information Management Clerk to support the HIM operations by processing clinical documents within the EHR and ensuring accurate data capture. The role emphasizes compliance with HIPAA, CAP/CLIA standards, and data quality across patient records.

The position requires familiarity with Epic and related systems, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent.
• Experience: 1–2 years in Health Information Management or related healthcare setting.
• Knowledge/Skills: Proficient computer and keyboarding skills; learn new software like Epic and OnBase.

Responsibilities

• Navigate EHRs to support patient care, care management, revenue cycle and regulatory needs.
• Receive, sort, and scan clinical documentation into the EHR per HIM procedures.
• Verify data in EHR against paper records to ensure accuracy and HIPAA compliance.
• Enter laboratory data accurately using templates, units, reference ranges and codes.
• Paginates and classifies documents; ensures proper security of PHI.
