Job summary

Family Health Centers of San Diego is seeking a HIM Abstractor to support data abstraction, chart review, and targeted quality measurement efforts. The role requires strong medical terminology knowledge, 2+ years in medical records, and teamwork within a busy HIM department.

Proficiency with an Electronic Health Record (EHR) system is encouraged, with RHIA/RHIT preferred. Bilingual English/Spanish is desirable. This on-site position offers competitive pay and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Proficient with databases and 80% computer-based tasks.
• Experience with an Electronic Health Record (EHR) system preferred.
• Knowledge of SNOMED CT, ICD-9/10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS a plus.
• RHIA or RHIT certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Abstract and analyze medical records for quality measurement data.
• Support record management, chart analysis, and QA/QC activities.
• Communicate findings to Clinical Quality or Utilization teams.
• Collaborate with HIM management to improve workflow and accuracy.
