Job summary

Advocate Health in Illinois is hiring for a Health Information Management/ Lab Data Abstracting role supporting patient care and revenue cycle. Expect 40 hours weekly on first shift, with travel as needed, and a focus on accurate data entry into the EHR using Epic and related tools.

The position requires a high school diploma and 1–2 years in HIM or a related healthcare setting, with strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience in Health Information Management or related healthcare setting.
• Proficient computer and keyboarding skills with ability to learn EHR systems (Epic, ExtractLabDE, Solarity, OnBase, Microsoft 365).
• High attention to detail and accuracy with ability to work under time constraints.

Responsibilities

• Navigate various EHR and computer applications to support patient care, revenue cycle, and regulatory requirements.
• Receive, sort, prepare, and scan clinical documentation into the EHR per HIM procedures.
• Analyze laboratory reports for identifiers and compliance with HIPAA, CAP, and CLIA.
• Abstract and import laboratory results into the EHR; verify data accuracy and completeness.
• Ensure PHI security and proper destruction of electronic and physical PHI.
