Job summary

Metrocare Services seeks a HIM Coordinator to review and audit medical records for claims reviews and government audits. The role trains HIM staff, monitors record standards, and reports KPIs while protecting patient confidentiality.

This position involves working closely with program directors and site managers to improve audit outcomes and ensure compliance with HIPAA and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Qualifies to review and audit medical records for claims/government audits and staff audits.
• Requires HIPAA knowledge and compliance awareness.
• Experience with chart audits and reporting to management.

Responsibilities

• Review and audit medical records for claims reviews and government audits.
• Provide training to HIM staff and support records functions.
• Monitor and report on record standards and KPIs; communicate with managers.
• Maintain confidentiality and high-quality audit practices.
• Prepare chart audit documentation for Quality Management.
• Support Release of Information processes and subpoenas as needed.
• Collaborate with program sites to discuss issues and trends identified in audits.

Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management (HIM)

3 years’ experience with electronic records

1-2 years’ experience in mental health/IDDS services
