Job summary

Sturdy Memorial Hospital seeks an HIM Analyst I to analyze inpatient, observation, ED and outpatient records for quality and completeness as per CMS standards. You will prep, scan, and index documents and handle Release of Information requests under HIPAA.

The role requires strong English communication, organizational skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office. Experience with Cerner is a plus in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1+ years experience in office/clerical/computer work.
• Excellent command of verbal and written English; strong interpersonal communication.
• Ability to clearly, accurately and professionally present and explain complex information to internal and external stakeholders.
• Detail oriented with problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to prioritize work and meet quality/quantity expectations.
• Excellent telephone skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Operate general office equipment (PC, scanner, printer, fax, copier).
• Troubleshoot computer or system failures with IT to resolve downtime.

Responsibilities

• Prepares medical documents for scanning with patient identifiers on all pages and sides.
• Operates a high-speed scanner to digitize records into the EHR.
• Reviews scanned images for quality; selects patient/visit and labels document type.
• Reviews charts for deficiencies and ensures CMS/DNV compliance.
