Job summary

Sampson Regional Medical Center is hiring a Health Information Analyst to join the HIM team. The selected candidate will perform quantitative analysis on discharged inpatients, same-day surgery, and observation charts in the EMR.

Deficiencies in Meditech will be assigned to physicians and other health care professionals. The role requires familiarity with release of information guidelines, state and federal regulations, and maintaining patient health information across formats.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; Associate degree preferred.
• Previous Health Information/Medical Office experience preferred.
• Experience with electronic/hybrid health information system preferred.
• Knowledge of state and federal release of information/confidentiality guidelines.
• Knowledge of RAC, MAC, MIC, CERT and other payer/state/federal requirements.

Responsibilities

Assigns deficiencies in the Meditech system to be completed by physicians and other health care professionals. Responsible for the retention, retrieval, and maintenance of patient health information in all formats. Expedites priority release of information to achieve an optimal patient and/or provider satisfaction. The employee must be able to follow directions and to perform work according to the department standards.

Requirements

• High school diploma required, Associate Degree in Health Information Technology or related field preferred.
• Previous Health Information/Medical Office experience preferred.
• Experience with an electronic and/or hybrid health information system preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of state and federal release of information/confidentiality guidelines.
• Knowledge of RAC, MAC, MIC, CERT and all other payer, state and federal requirements for complying with requests for information.
• Ability to read, comprehend and relay regulatory requirements, guidelines and information in order to ensure compliance with such information.

Hours

This is a full-time position working Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm. Other hours may be required for the effective operation of the department.
