Job summary

Virtua is seeking a Records Technician to protect the security and confidentiality of patient data. You will prep, scan, index and perform quality audits of medical record documents in OnBase and Epic to support accurate electronic health record documentation.

Duties include monitoring Epic in-basket queues, ensuring demographic accuracy, assisting physicians with deficiencies, and coordinating releases of information.

Qualifications

• 2 years of medical office experience or equivalent in education (AAS in HIM).
• Knowledge of medical record format.
• Ability to perform computer functions in a Microsoft Windows environment.
• Detail-oriented with high accuracy.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; customer service focused.
• Experience with scanning hardware preferred.
• Experience with electronic health record systems preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Capture and prep paper records for OnBase, scan, index and perform quality reviews.
• Monitor image quality and indexing queues; maintain scanning equipment as needed.
• Process Epic In-basket work queues and Release of Information requests.
• Ensure demographic accuracy and patient merges/duplicates in Epic.
• Validate physician deficiencies and ensure timely completion of legal health records.
• Assist physicians with deficiencies and provide guidance to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Monitor interfaces to ensure accurate data integration into the EHR; escalate discrepancies.
• Support reconciliation of paper records with hospital census and secure storage until destruction.
• Assist with audits and release of information in accordance with regulations.
