Job summary

MiraVista Behavioral Health Center is seeking a HIM Specialist to manage the Master Patient Index, ensure complete and accurate medical records, and coordinate with clinicians and staff to maintain privacy and quality of information.

You will perform data integrity checks, scan and index documents, audit EMR entries, and handle ROI requests in compliance with federal and state regulations, contributing to high-quality health information management.

Qualifications

• Identifies, researches and corrects data integrity issues in the MPI and communicates issues to impacted areas.
• Scans, indexes and maintains documents accurately and timely.
• Analyzes medical record entries for completeness, timeliness and accuracy per procedures; audits EMR entries.
• Notifies clinicians when records are incomplete or delinquent according to policy.
• Serves as liaison to physicians and medical staff to ensure complete and accurate health information.
• Ensures ROI requests comply with federal/state requirements and policy.

Responsibilities

• Maintains MPI data integrity and communicates issues across departments.
• Performs document scanning and indexing accurately and on time.
• Audits medical records for completeness and accuracy in the EMR system.
• Notifies clinicians of incomplete or delinquent records per policy.
• Provides excellent customer service to patients and staff.
• Safeguards and maintains HIPAA compliance for all records.
• Attends training sessions and team meetings.
