Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced HIL Validation Engineer / HIL Development Engineer with strong expertise in Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing and development, automotive communication protocols, and dSPACE-based test environments.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, configuring, integrating, and validating HIL test systems for automotive electronic control units (ECUs). The engineer will work closely with embedded software, controls, systems, and validation teams to develop test environments, execute automated and manual test cases, analyze failures, and ensure ECU functionality meets system and software requirements.

The candidate should have hands‑on experience with dSPACE SCALEXIO, ControlDesk, ConfigurationDesk, CAN, CANalyzer, CANoe, and automotive ECU validation methodologies.

Key Responsibilities
HIL System Development & Integration
  • Develop and configure Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test systems for automotive ECUs.
  • Configure and integrate dSPACE SCALEXIO hardware and software components.
  • Develop HIL test benches including I/O configuration, signal conditioning, communication interfaces, and ECU connectivity.
  • Configure dSPACE ConfigurationDesk for real-time application and I/O management.
  • Use dSPACE ControlDesk for ECU monitoring, calibration, parameterization, and test execution.
  • Integrate ECU hardware with real-time plant models and simulation environments.
  • Develop and maintain HIL test environments based on system and ECU requirements.
  • Troubleshoot HIL hardware, software, communication, and integration issues.
HIL Validation & Testing
  • Develop and execute test cases for ECU functional and system‑level validation.
  • Perform automated and manual HIL testing based on software and system requirements.
  • Develop test scenarios covering normal, boundary, fault, and failure conditions.
  • Validate ECU behavior under different operating conditions and system states.
  • Perform regression testing following software releases and ECU changes.
  • Analyze test results and identify deviations from expected behavior.
  • Perform root-cause analysis of test failures and collaborate with development teams to resolve issues.
  • Generate detailed test reports, defect reports, and validation documentation.
CAN / Automotive Communication
  • Strong hands‑on experience with CAN communication and diagnostics.
  • Develop and analyze CAN messages, signals, frames, and network configurations.
  • Work with CANalyzer and CANoe for network simulation, monitoring, analysis, and testing.
  • Configure and troubleshoot CAN communication between ECU and HIL systems.
  • Analyze CAN traces and diagnose communication‑related issues.
  • Experience with automotive diagnostic protocols such as UDS is preferred.
  • Knowledge of CAN FD, LIN, FlexRay, or Automotive Ethernet is an added advantage.
Test Automation
  • Develop automated test scripts for HIL validation.
  • Automate repetitive validation activities to improve test coverage and efficiency.
  • Develop test sequences, test procedures, and automated regression suites.
  • Use CANoe/CANalyzer scripting, CAPL, Python, MATLAB/Simulink, or other appropriate automation tools.
  • Maintain and enhance existing test automation frameworks.
  • Debug automation scripts and test execution failures.
Requirements & Test Design
  • Analyze system, software, and ECU requirements and convert them into testable validation scenarios.
  • Develop test specifications, test cases, test procedures, and test reports.
  • Establish traceability between requirements and validation results.
  • Identify test coverage gaps and recommend additional test scenarios.
  • Support requirement reviews and technical discussions with software and system engineering teams.
