Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced engineer to advance Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) simulation for vehicle domains in a bench-testing environment. You will integrate simulations with ECU hardware, calibrations, and bench wiring, while improving models and automating tests.

Responsibilities include developing HIL configurations, testing novel bench solutions, and collaborating with bench users to resolve issues across Electrification, Active Safety, Chassis, and Body Controls areas.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • Five (5) years of experience as a Software Engineer, Integration Engineer, or related role.
  • Five (5) years of experience with real-time simulation; MATLAB/Simulink modelling in context of plant model development and integration; basic usage of tools for real-time simulation; HIL methods and environment; CAN/LIN/Automotive Ethernet and related monitoring tools; automotive software test automation; Python; Windows development; automation framework; serial data tools including CANalyzer.

  • Developing Vehicle Dynamics simulation models with other plant models for bench use.
  • Developing instrumentation and simulation solutions for ECU sensors and actuators.
  • HIL test automation and scripting to enhance testing efficiency.
  • Training and supporting lab users on Hardware-In-the-Loop bench usage.
  • Defining bench/test property technical requirements.
  • Electrical design integration and verification.

Responsibilities


  • Integrating simulation framework with bench wiring, loads, and instrumentation, along with ECU hardware, software, and calibrations.

  • Observing, reporting, and facilitating the quick resolution of issues for various vehicle domains such as Electrification, Active Safety, Chassis, and Body Controls.

  • Working to develop new bench capabilities, improving simulation models, making efficiency and processing improvements, and implementing automation.

  • Designing, implementing, and testing Novel HIL Bench Solutions, Simulation, and Instrumentation for new vehicle features and technology.

  • Developing test configurations, and real-time Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) Simulation Models using Matlab and Simulink through collaboration with bench users.

  • Adapting and integrating Chassis, Active Safety, Electrification, and Propulsion System controllers and Plant Models with HIL bench.

  • Developing and adapt Vehicle Dynamics simulation models (e.g. CarSim, VeDyna, or ASM-VD) with other plant models for bench use.

  • Developing solutions for instrumentation and simulation of Electronic Controls Unit (ECU) sensors and actuators.

  • Developing HIL test automation and scripting solutions to enhance testing efficiency.

  • Training and supporting lab users on Hardware-In-the-Loop bench usage.

  • Defining of bench and test property technical requirements.

  • Performing electrical design integration and verification.


Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related role

  • Five (5) years of experience as a Software Engineer, Integration Engineer, or related role

  • Five (5) years of experience with the following: Real-time simulation; MATLAB and Simulink modelling experience in context of plant model development and integration and basic usage of additional tools for real time simulation; Capability of HIL test methods and HIL development environment; Vehicle communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, Automotive Ethernet, and related serial data communication monitoring tools; Automotive software test automation methodologies; Python development; Windows Development; Automation framework; and Serial data tools including CANalyzer.

Demonstrates expertise in Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) simulation, real-time modeling, and integration of vehicle systems, with a strong focus on automation and efficiency improvements. Proficient in MATLAB, Simulink, and vehicle communication protocols to support advanced automotive testing and development.
