We are seeking an experienced HIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) Validation Engineer to support the development, integration, testing, and validation of automotive embedded systems. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience developing and executing HIL test cases, configuring HIL test benches, debugging ECU/software issues, and working with automotive communication protocols and simulation environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, execute, and maintain HIL validation test cases for automotive ECUs and embedded systems.
- Configure and operate HIL test benches for ECU integration and system‑level validation.
- Develop test scenarios covering normal operation, fault conditions, boundary conditions, and failure modes.
- Perform automated and manual testing of embedded automotive software.
- Integrate ECUs with HIL systems and validate hardware/software interfaces.
- Analyze test results, identify failures, and perform detailed root‑cause analysis.
- Debug ECU communication, software, hardware, and integration issues.
- Work with CAN, CAN FD, LIN, Ethernet, and UDS communication protocols.
- Develop and maintain simulation models for sensors, actuators, vehicle systems, and network communication.
- Validate ECU behavior under various operating and fault conditions.
- Create test reports, defect reports, test documentation, and validation summaries.
- Collaborate with software, controls, systems, hardware, and calibration teams.
- Support regression testing and continuous integration/continuous testing activities.
- Participate in requirements reviews and ensure test coverage against system/software requirements.
- Support SIL, MIL, and HIL validation activities where applicable.
- Troubleshoot issues using CAN logs, trace data, diagnostic tools, and HIL system measurements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in automotive embedded testing/validation.
- Hands‑on experience with HIL testing and validation.
- Strong understanding of ECU testing and embedded software validation.
- Experience with CAN/CAN FD, LIN, Ethernet, and UDS.
- Experience developing test cases, test procedures, and validation plans.
- Strong debugging and root‑cause analysis skills.
- Experience working with embedded systems and automotive ECUs.
- Programming/scripting experience with Python, CAPL, C/C++, MATLAB, or similar.
- Ability to analyze CAN/network traces and diagnostic communication.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with dSPACE, Vector, NI, ETAS, or similar HIL platforms.
- Experience with dSPACE SCALEXIO, MicroAutoBox, ControlDesk, AutomationDesk, or similar tools.
- Experience with Vector CANoe/CANalyzer.
- Experience with MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow.
- Experience with CAPL scripting.
- Knowledge of AUTOSAR Classic/Adaptive.
- Experience with UDS diagnostics (ISO 14229).
- Knowledge of J1939 and automotive Ethernet.
- Experience with SIL/MIL/HIL testing methodologies.
- Experience testing ADAS, powertrain, body, chassis, EV, battery, or vehicle control systems.
- Knowledge of requirements traceability and test management tools such as DOORS, Polarion, Jira, or similar.
- Experience with automated test frameworks and CI/CD.
- Familiarity with functional safety standards such as ISO 26262.
