Job summary

City of Pewaukee is seeking Streets Laborers for the Highway Division of the Department of Public Works. This full-time position offers a starting hourly wage range of $27.78-$32.40, depending on experience within the job progression steps.

Entry-level Laborer I learns duties under supervision, with opportunities to advance to Laborer II and III as experience grows. Qualified applicants reside within 30 minutes of the Highway Maintenance Shop and must obtain a Wisconsin CDL if not already held.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years’ experience operating heavy vehicles and power tools.
• Valid State of Wisconsin Driver's License and acceptable driving record.
• CDL (A, B, C, D) or ability to obtain within 30 days of hiring.
• Three years’ experience in a municipal highway or streets department or comparable experience.
• Residence within 30 minutes of the Highway Maintenance Shop.
• Applications must be received before 2026-11-07.

Responsibilities

• Erect and repair guardrails, highway markers, and street signs per MUTCD standards.
• Dump, spread, and tamp asphalt to patch pavement.
• Construct concrete form work and finish concrete.
• Drive trucks to transport equipment and materials.
• Operate municipal equipment including snow plows, graders, dump trucks, backhoes, loaders, street sweepers, and fork lifts.
• Serve as first responder for snow removal and ice control.
