Job summary

The City of Pewaukee is hiring a Streets Laborer in its Public Works Highway Division for a full-time, entry-level role. Candidates start with a wage range of $27.78–$32.40 per hour depending on experience and progress through steps.

A valid Wisconsin driver’s license and CDL are required or obtainable within 30 days of hire, with residency within 30 minutes of the Highway Maintenance Shop preferred. Qualification includes a High school diploma or equivalent and 0–4 years of basic labor

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years’ experience operating heavy vehicles and power tools.
• Valid State of Wisconsin Driver's License and acceptable driving record.
• Valid State of Wisconsin CDL (A, B, C, D) or ability to obtain within 30 days of hiring.
• Three years’ experience in a municipal highway or streets department or comparable experience preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.

Responsibilities

• Erect and repair guardrails, highway markers, and street signs per MUTCD standards.
• Dump, spread, and tamp asphalt with tamper to patch pavement.
• Construct concrete form work and complete concrete finish work.
• Drive truck to transport equipment and materials to work site.
• Operate all municipal equipment, including snow plows, graders, dump trucks, backhoes, front end loaders, tractor mowers, street sweepers, fork lifts, and chain saws.
• Function as a first responder for snow removal and ice control.
