Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking personnel for maintenance operations at the Richland area. Responsibilities include operating tandem dump trucks, patcher equipment for potholes, and setting up traffic control for work zones.

Qualified candidates will have at least six months of related experience, a valid driver's license, and must obtain a Class A CDL within six months of placement. Occasional overtime and inclement weather duties may apply.

Qualifications

• Six (6) months of related work experience.
• A valid motor vehicle operator's license is required upon entry to the position.
• Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.

Responsibilities

• Operate tandem dump truck hauling material to and from job sites.
• Operate injector patcher in the repairs of potholes and base surface failures of roadways.
• Coordinate the placement of traffic control devices to set up a maintenance work zone per the SCDOT Manual and Field Guide.
• Assist in emergency and inclement weather operations, including operating medium or heavy duty equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
