Job summary

Minnehaha County is hiring a Highway Maintenance Team Member in Sioux Falls, SD. The role supports snow removal, road repair, and routine maintenance with a crew of experienced operators and mechanics.

You will operate bulldozers, excavators, and trucks, perform drainage work, and help maintain safety for county roads and bridges across seasons. Training and benefits are available as part of a comprehensive package.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License with air brake endorsement.
• Must have a safe driving record and pass pre-employment background check.
• Ability to perform heavy manual labor in various weather conditions.
• Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Knowledge of road construction and repair equipment, materials, and tools.

Responsibilities

• Operate light to heavy equipment including bulldozers, excavators, and trucks.
• Perform snow and ice removal to keep roads safe and passable.
• Service, repair, and replace culverts and ditches for drainage.
• Repair and maintain county roads, patch potholes, and resurface as needed.
• Install and repair fence wires/posts to secure property lines.
• Use spray equipment to manage weeds and vegetation near roadways.
