Job summary

Minnehaha County Highway Department seeks a Highway Maintenance Team Member to operate a range of equipment, perform snow and ice removal, and maintain drainage and road surfaces. The team works at a new, state-of-the-art facility and earns a comprehensive benefits package including holidays, health/dental/vision/life insurance, PTO, extended sick leave, and SDRS retirement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent experience.
• Valid Class B CDL with air brake endorsement and clean driving record.
• Must complete pre-employment background check.
• Able to perform heavy manual labor in varying weather conditions.
• Knowledge of road construction tools, equipment, and safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Operate light, medium, and heavy equipment (bulldozers, excavators, trucks).
• Perform snow and ice removal to keep roads safe in winter.
• Repair and maintain drainage features like culverts and ditches.
• Patch potholes, resurfacing, and ensure road integrity.
• Install and repair fence lines and manage vegetation as needed.
