South Carolina Department of Transportation is looking for a maintenance worker to support the construction, repair, and preservation of roads and bridges on the state highway system. The role involves operating heavy motorized equipment and coordinating with a Work Request Crew to keep highways safe and passable.

Qualified candidates will have at least one year of related experience, a valid driver's license, and must obtain a Class A CDL within six months.

Qualifications

• One year of related work experience.
• Requires a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
• Requires attainment of a Class A CDL within six months of placement.

Responsabilités

• Maintain roads and bridges; operate heavy equipment such as motor graders, backhoes, dump trucks and related machinery.
• Perform safety inspections and preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Patch roadway base and surface; install signs, curbs, gutters, and sidewalks.
• Coordinate traffic control and assist in snow/ice removal operations.
• Assist in training crew in safety practices and on-call rotations.
