Job summary

The State of South Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking a skilled highway maintenance worker to perform a variety of tasks including operating medium equipment for road upkeep and performing concrete work for curbs, gutters, sidewalks, and driveways. The role requires alert safety practices and the ability to conduct routine maintenance on equipment.

Expected duties include snow and ice response when needed, with the potential for extended or shift work.

Qualifications

• Six (6) months of related work experience or an approved acceptable equivalence.
• Requires a valid motor vehicle operator’s license; CDL within six (6) months of placement.

Responsibilities

• Operates a range of medium equipment for highway maintenance.
• Performs concrete work for curbs, gutters, sidewalks and driveways.
• Maintains equipment and conducts safety inspections daily.
• Assists in snow and ice response and inclement weather operations.
