Job summary

Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is hiring a Highway Maintenance Specialist in Aurora, CO. Requires a Colorado CDL Class A or B and a passion for safety and hands-on repair.

The role involves 10-hour days, 4 days per week, with overtime during weather emergencies and occasional out-of-town work. The position provides full benefits, a structured training program, and advancement opportunities within a 4-day summer schedule.

Qualifications

• At least two years of physical labor and/or heavy equipment operation experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid CDL Class A or B with no air brakes restriction.
• Ability to pass pre-employment screening including background checks and DOT-related requirements.

Responsibilities

• Install pavement markings and striping.
• Repair guardrails, highway markers, signs, lighting, and other safety features.
• Plow snow and operate heavy equipment (dump truck, loaders, bulldozers).
• Mow grass, remove debris, and maintain roadways and culverts.
• Set up traffic control signs and cones; assist emergency responses.
