Job summary

Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is hiring a Highway Maintenance Specialist in Aurora, CO. The role offers a base pay of $53,940 per year with a $12,000 housing stipend that brings total compensation to $65,940. Overtime is available at $38.90/hour and the annualized rate is $25.93/hour for in-town work.

The schedule is 10-hour days, four days a week during warm months, with travel as needed. Work includes operating equipment, repairing and installing highway assets, and roadside

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of physical labor and/or heavy equipment operation experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Commercial Driver's License Class A or B with no restriction on air brakes.
• Ability to travel and work outside in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Perform highway maintenance tasks including plowing snow and operating heavy equipment.
• Install pavement markings, signs, and lighting; maintain equipment and perform minor repairs.
• Respond to emergencies, work on-call, and support a 4-day workweek schedule in summer.
