Job summary

State of Colorado's Department of Transportation (CDOT) in Colorado Springs is hiring Highway Maintenance Specialists. You will plow snow, operate heavy equipment, and maintain roadways to keep Colorado open and safe.

Expect on-call rotations, overtime during weather emergencies, and a 4-day summer schedule. The role requires a valid CDL Class A or B with no air-brake restriction and at least two years of physical labor or heavy equipment experience.

Qualifications

• Must have at least two years of physical labor and/or heavy equipment operation experience.
• Valid Commercial Driver’s License Class A or B with no air brake restriction is required.
• On-call, shift work, and possible overtime including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Plow snow and operate highway maintenance equipment.
• Load, unload, and repair equipment; perform routine maintenance.
• Mow grass, remove debris, and repair guardrails and signs as needed.
• Set out traffic control devices and respond to emergencies.
• Work in teams to keep roadways open and safe under varying conditions.
