Job summary

CDOT is hiring a Highway Maintenance Specialist in Grand Junction, CO. The role requires a Colorado CDL Class A or B within 18 months, with training provided, and involves long hours, travel, and overnight stays during April–November.

The position offers overtime, a base pay ~ $53,940, comprehensive benefits, and a 10-hour, 4-day workweek in the summer, emphasizing safety and teamwork across maintenance crews.

Qualifications

• Two years of physical labor and/or heavy equipment operation experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid CDL Class A or B with no restriction on air brakes (Colorado).
• Pre-employment screening and possible DOT drug testing.

Responsibilities

• Install pavement markings/striping and maintain traffic signs.
• Operate heavy equipment such as tandem dump truck, loader, and grader.
• Plow snow and remove debris from roadways and culverts.
• Dig ditches, fill potholes, and set up traffic control devices.
• Perform routine equipment maintenance and follow safety guidelines.
