Job summary

The State of South Carolina is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to support highway and bridge construction and repair projects. You will operate boom trucks, snooper trucks, excavators, graders, backhoes, and other heavy equipment on active work sites.

A valid Class A CDL or willingness to obtain one within six months, plus two years of related experience, is required. Duties include rigging, signaling crane operations, traffic control, safety inspections, and occasional snow

Qualifications

• Two years of related work experience or an approved equivalent.
• Must obtain Class A CDL within six months of placement.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work around traffic and weather hazards.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment on highway and bridge construction sites.
• Perform safety inspections on assigned vehicles and equipment.
• Rig lifted materials and coordinate with crane operators.
• Assist with traffic control and flagging operations in work zones.
• Assist in inclement weather operations and snow removal.
