Job summary

State of South Carolina, through Richland Maintenance, seeks a skilled laborer to operate heavy equipment and support road/bridge maintenance. You will perform backhoe and truck tasks, set forms, pour concrete, and assist in controlled work zones; you may work extended hours during emergencies or weather events.

Qualifications

• One year of related work experience or approved equivalent.
• Must have a valid motor vehicle operator’s license on entry.
• CDL Class A required within six months of placement.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform demanding field tasks.

Responsibilities

• Operate backhoe and tandem dump truck for roads and bridges maintenance.
• Grade, pour/finish concrete, and install forms for curbs and sidewalks.
• Set up and coordinate traffic control in work zones per manuals.
• Assist in emergencies and adverse weather operations; conduct pre-operation inspections.
