Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Transportation seeks a Crew Leader to coordinate right-of-way vegetation management activities. You will operate equipment such as slope mowers and excavators, and you’ll ensure traffic control devices are properly placed to create safe work zones in line with SCDOT manuals.

Two years of related work experience are required, along with a valid driver’s license; CDL-A is required within six months of placement.

Qualifications

• Two years of related work experience or equivalent.
• Requires a valid motor vehicle operator’s license upon entry.
• CDL-A within six months of placement.

Responsibilities

• Lead crew in right-of-way vegetation management activities.
• Operate slope mower, excavator, and brush management tools.
• Coordinate placement of traffic control devices and set up work zones per SCDOT guidelines.
• Conduct safety inspections on vehicles and equipment.
• Maintain daily, weekly, and monthly reports and time records.
• Assist in emergency or inclement weather operations and extended shifts when needed.
